Firefighters extinguish half-acre vegetation fire

Firefighters immediately prevented a plant fire from burning beyond half an acre in the 24000 block of state Route 78 Thursday night.
The flame on the east end of Ramona happened around 9 p.m., had a slow rate of speed and didn’t threaten any structures, according to Cal Fire. After extinguishing the flame, dubbed Creek Fire, crews remained at the scene for about three hours to mop up and patrol, Cal Fire reported.
